Our Philosophy

Joy is not the absence of pain.
It is the decision we make in its presence.

Life rarely unfolds the way we expect it to.

Some seasons are joyful. Others are complicated, painful, or uncertain. Witch Bitch Kitch was created to explore how creativity, food, and honest conversation can help us navigate all of it.

Here, the kitchen becomes more than a place to cook.

It becomes a place to slow down, process life, nourish the people we love, and remember that joy is still possible—even after everything.

Because sometimes the most radical thing we can do

is keep showing up for our lives.

Witch Bitch Kitch began with a realization that arrived slowly over time: the kitchen is one of the few places where life’s hardest and most beautiful moments can exist side by side.

For creator Samantha Holgate, cooking has always been more than a skill. A professionally trained baker who worked at New York’s iconic Balthazar Bakery before running her own gourmet cake and cupcake business for five years, she learned early that food is one of the most powerful ways we care for each other.

But it was personal loss that deepened that understanding.

After her mother died, Samantha found herself returning to the kitchen again and again—not because cooking solved grief, but because it offered something quieter and more honest. Preparing food created small moments of structure in a world that suddenly felt uncertain. It became a way to stay present, to care for the people she loved, and to keep moving forward when life felt unrecognizable.

Over time, that practice began to feel like something more than habit.

It felt like philosophy.

Witch Bitch Kitch was created as a space to explore that idea: that creativity, food, and honest storytelling can help us navigate the complicated reality of being human.

Here, recipes sit beside reflections. Joy sits beside grief.

And the kitchen becomes a place not just for cooking,

but for becoming.
